It is impossible to imagine a flat or country cottage without a sanitary room with a toilet installed there. It seems that there will be no problem choosing a sanitary fitting, but you need to understand what kinds exist so that you can make an informed decision that you won’t regret in the future.
Each shop’s consultant will tell you about the many variations in how the units are categorised. We’ll look at the main one – by bowl type.
Funnel-shaped. The funnel is located in the centre of the bowl, ensuring a high level of hygiene. All contents are removed quickly, and additional manual effort is not often required. The disadvantage is the high probability of splashing, and as a consequence, splashing, which causes a certain inconvenience.
Pellets. Waste is collected on a flat platform and can only be removed by a jet of water, which is released at the push of a button. They are virtually splash-proof, but are considered obsolete due to poor hygiene.
Visor. This is a popular model because it has a special protrusion that allows the contents to fall into the toilet without splashing. And the extra slope facilitates removal of the contents of the bowl without additional hassle.
For some people, an important consideration is the material from which the toilet bowl is made. We will not list the advantages of each of the materials, but we will remind you of the main ones:
Earthenware.
Porcelain.
Steel.
Cast iron.
Glass.
Stone.
Plastic.
